Nurse Practitioners
-
DEBBIE DURKIN
Female
Appointments are available to book in the same way as GP appointments. Debbie is similar to a GP in that she is able to prescribe medications and do referrals. Debbie also holds the occasional nursing clinic and runs our diabetic clinic.
Nurses
Available by appointment. They may be present when the doctor examines you or the doctor may refer you to them. Our practice nurses will advise you about health problems, including wounds and ulcers, removal of stitches and vaccination for foreign travel.
-
JENNY RAWLINSON
Female
Jenny runs clinics for asthma, heart disease, COPD among other things. The nurse also does cervical smears (you will receive written notification when your smear is due).
-
Healthcare Assistants
Our healthcare assistant supports the practice nurse with their daily work and carries out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood) at the GP's request, blood pressure measurement, new patient checks, NHS health checks and annual reviews. The healthcare assistant may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.
Practice Management
The practice manager is involved in managing all the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.
Administration
Reception
Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.
Secretaries
Community Midwives
The Ribble team midwives provide the antenatal services for this practice. To speak to a midwife please call 01484 728934.
Community Nurses
The District Nurse team are based at Rastrick Health Centre but are not connected to the GP surgery. They can be contacted on 01484 714688. Due to the nature of their work they may not be contactable at all times but they do check their voicemail messages regularly between visits so if you leave a name and number they will endeavour to return your call.
Health Visitors
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing. The team can be contacted on 01484 715478.
